Wood from
Costa Rica

About

01 about

The Guanacaste province provides the highest quality teak available from Costa Rica. The climate in this region is "Dry Tropical", with no rain from December until May.

Teak industry has a more than 50 year history in this region, when much  former grazing land for beef production was converted into plantations.

Plantations are run under strict governmental control in this country, which also has one of the strongest policies for environmental protection in the world.

We are working only with the most reputable subcontractors in the country. Our local lawyer make sure all licenses and other public requirements are fulfilled.

Our local experts have been working in the wood industry for a generation. They have in depth knowledge of all types of wood from the country and where to find the best raw materials.

Guanacaste is the North-western province of Costa Rica, on the Pacific. It has a "dry tropical" climate, rain only falls in May to November. For this reason the trees grow very slow and get extremely hard.

Teak plantations are an important part of the economy in Costa Rica. But all these plantations are under strict governmental control and illegal logging in pristine forests does not happen.

Costa Rica is the country with most national parks in the world, and is a very environmentally conscious nation.

Actually growing trees and using this for building is very CO2 friendly - each hectare sequesters 50 tons of wood per year and when trees are logged, new trees are planted.
